Why a seed-fed bird needs it

A diet built mainly on seed is naturally short on several vitamins — vitamin A in particular, one of the commonest deficiencies in pet birds, along with parts of the B group. The gap doesn't show at first; it turns up over time as dull or poor-quality feathers, low energy, weaker resistance to illness, and trouble through moulting and breeding.
