Versele-Laga Calci-Lux pairs calcium carbonate with vitamin D3, since calcium alone isn't enough — a bird's body needs D3 to actually absorb and use it.

Calcium needs vitamin D3 to actually work

Calcium carbonate alone can pass through a bird's system largely unused without enough vitamin D3 to enable its absorption, which is why this supplement pairs the two together rather than offering calcium in isolation the way a plain mineral stone does.

This is especially relevant for egg-laying females, whose calcium demands during laying can otherwise be drawn from their own bone reserves.

• ✓Calcium + vitamin D3. D3 enables the body to actually absorb the calcium.
• ✓Especially important for egg-laying females.
