Orijen Dog Dry Food Chicken Turkey Fish Senior
ORIJEN Senior uses the same 85% animal-ingredient WholePrey recipe as the rest of the range, meeting FEDIAF's all-life-stages standard rather than a separate reduced-protein senior formula.
Why Orijen doesn't cut protein for seniors
Some brands assume older dogs need less protein, but current thinking in canine nutrition leans the other way — ageing muscles need more amino acids to maintain themselves, not fewer. ORIJEN Senior is packaged under that logic: the same fresh chicken, raw turkey, herring and hake recipe as ORIJEN Original, at the same protein density.
The condition tags on this recipe reflect joint and weight support rather than a reduced-protein approach — glucosamine-rich cartilage from the WholePrey ratios, and a feeding chart adjusted for a typically less active senior dog.
- ✓Same protein density as Original. No reduction in protein for seniors.
- ✓Natural cartilage for joint support. From WholePrey ratios of meat and organs.
- ✓Feeding chart adjusted for a typically less active senior lifestyle.
