Kit Cat Crystal Silica Charcoal is a non-clumping silica gel litter, a different mechanism entirely from clay or plant-fibre clumping litters, scented with charcoal.
Absorbing, not clumping — a different mechanism
Silica crystals work by absorbing moisture directly into the crystal structure rather than forming a solid clump around it, which means there's no clump to scoop out daily — instead, waste is removed and the crystals are typically changed as a batch every few weeks depending on how many cats use the box.
The charcoal scent adds a light fragrance on top of silica's naturally strong moisture and odour absorption.
