Beso Sterilised is a complete dry food for neutered and spayed cats, and for adult cats carrying more weight than they should. Chicken-led, with reduced fat compared with Beso's standard adult recipes.
The first six months are the ones that count
Weight gain after neutering does not arrive suddenly. It creeps — a little each month, invisible day to day, obvious only in a photograph from a year ago. By the time an owner notices, the cat is usually carrying a good deal more than it should, and reversing that is far harder than never letting it happen.
The moment to change the food is when the cat comes home from the operation, not when the vet raises it at the next check-up. A reduced-fat diet from the start, in measured portions, keeps the cat where it already is — which is a much easier job than getting it back.

How to tell if it is working
Forget the scales for a moment and use your hands. Run them along your cat's sides: you should feel the ribs easily, with only a thin covering over them — like the back of your hand, not the palm. Looking down from above, there should be a visible narrowing behind the ribs. From the side, the belly should tuck up rather than hang.
Check monthly. A cat that has become hard to feel the ribs on needs the portion reduced, not a different bag. Losing weight should be slow — rapid weight loss in cats is dangerous and can cause serious liver problems, so any deliberate reduction is worth discussing with your vet first.
Feeding it
Measure with a scale, not a cup or a scoop. On a weight-control food this is the part that actually decides the outcome — the recipe cannot compensate for a bowl that is topped up whenever it empties.
Count the treats. They are the usual reason a carefully measured diet does not work, and it takes very few to undo a day's restraint in a cat this size.
Introduce it mixed with the current food, increasing the proportion over about a week. Fresh water always available — neutered cats are more prone to urinary trouble, and water intake matters.
