Beso Kitten is a complete dry food built around chicken, with anchovy and krill alongside it, for the stretch between weaning and a cat's first birthday. Chicken protein leads the recipe, and at a higher level than Beso's adult formulas — which is exactly the right way round.
Growing is expensive
A kitten does something no adult cat does: it builds an entire body while running it. Weight for weight it needs far more energy than a grown cat, and considerably more protein, because protein is not just fuel here — it is the material the kitten is made from. Muscle, organs, immune system and the enzymes running all of it are protein, and all of them are being assembled at once.
That is why a kitten formula should lead more strongly on animal protein than the adult version of the same brand, and this one does. The fish alongside the chicken matters too: marine sources bring fatty acids that support the developing brain and nervous system in a way poultry alone does not.

Feeding a kitten
Little and often. A kitten's stomach is small and its energy needs are not, so three or four meals a day suits it better than one or two, dropping back as it grows.
If your kitten has just come home, keep it on whatever it was eating for a few days before starting the change, then move across over a week. A new house, new people and new food all at once is the usual reason a new kitten gets an upset stomach.
Dry kibble can be softened with a little warm water for a very young kitten still getting used to solids. Fresh water always available — and cow's milk is not a substitute for it. Most cats cannot digest lactose properly, and it causes diarrhoea.
Around twelve months, growth is finished and the energy demand drops sharply. That is the point to move to an adult food — staying on kitten food afterwards is one of the commonest reasons a young cat starts putting on weight.
